By effectively partnering with operations and other facility management leadership, the Senior Safety Engineer advocates and assists in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment in a manufacturing setting. This position is responsible for inspecting work areas to determine potential safety hazards, identifying safety issues, and reducing or eliminating unsafe working conditions in compliance with Federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Provide leadership and direction around all safety regulations, policies, and procedures, and assure continuity and consistency of safety policies and procedures.
Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interfacing with supervisory personnel.
Participate in developing and conducting safety training programs that are specific to the work environment, including the OSHA standard requirements.
Investigate safety incidents in a timely manner.
Work with Operations Management to drive the needs for safety awareness and safe work practices by implementing safety programs and procedures.
Review and recommend the requirements necessary for safety practices during the implementation or modification of equipment or processes.
Assist in calculating and communicating safety performance metrics and goals for operations and regularly track and report progress against safety goals.
Evaluate and analyze injuries and related trends at plants, and work directly with those operations to establish root causes and corrective actions.
Develop and implement action plans to improve site safety performance, tracking and measuring corrective actions and improvement.
Proactively identify and interpret new and existing laws, rules and regulations applicable to the Company and work with the Safety Manager regarding program development and implementation.
Proactively address Employee safety issues in a positive manner that builds trust with employees.
Spend time in the Foundry working with Employees, Supervisors and Managers to identify and correct safety concerns or issues.
Serve as a resource for safety questions and concerns for Employees, Supervisors and Managers.
Lead incident investigation Team regarding recordable injuries with root cause analysis.

Edu & Exp
Bachelor’s Degree required, Strongly prefer Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related Engineering field.
Knowledge and experience working with OSHA regulations required.
Will consider candidates with at least (10) years safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment in lieu of education.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification a strong plus.
Spends time in the Foundry walking, interacting with employees and equipment.
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
The worker must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the Company's Operations.
Little to no travel is anticipated with this position
